John J. McNicholas is an Elder Law Attorney with more than four decades of experience in elder law. His practice focuses on issues such as sophisticated long-term asset planning, complex MassHealth applications, and resolving fionancial crises brought on by the unplanned need for long-term care. Mr. McNicholas has been an active member of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).

Mr. McNicholas received his undergraduate degree from College of the Holy Cross. He earned his law degree from Ohio Northern University and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts. Prior to joining Fletcher Tilton in 2016, attorney McNicholas was a partner in the Medfield, MA law firm of McNicholas & Proulx, LLP. From 1980-1986 Jack managed King Philip Elder Legal Services, a Title III Legal Services Program serving twelve Norfolk County communities. Since then he has guided hundreds of individuals and families through the process of funding long term care in an atmosphere of self-determination and dignity. A native of Lexington, MA attorney McNicholas has resided in Medfield since 1979.

Mr. McNicholas has been an active member of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). He served for ten years on its board of directors and was a longtime member of the Public Policy Committee. Mr. McNicholas also served as co-chair of the MassNAELA Litigation Committee and was a former chair of the Litigation Initiative Long-Range Strategic Planning Committee. In 2014, he was a joint recipient of the inaugural John J. Ford Litigation Advocacy Award presented by MassNAELA.
Jack has lectured on Medicaid treatment of irrevocable trusts and related topics at MassNAELA Meetings, MassNAELA Litigation Workshops, MCLE Elder & Disability Law Conferences and the MBA Probate Conference from 2013 to 2017. He has also testified at public hearings before the Massachusetts Legislature Joint Health Care Financing Committee advocating for MassNAELA-sponsored bills.
